What a great start to our trip! After rolling out of Winston Salem bright and early we were bound for Kentucky. About half way we stopped for a beautiful picnic lunch. After hopping on the road again, we arrived at Churchill Downs. Once there, the group was led by the lively and entertaining tour guide Ferguson aka “Fergie.” Not only did Fergie educate us on the Kentucky Derby, but he also had some dance moves for us. He also let Perrin join in on presenting the tour. Afterwards, we visited the museum and viewed a short film about the Kentucky Derby. We then boarded the bus to drop off our stuff at the hotel and head to dinner at Joe Huber’s. We enjoyed a family style dinner consisting of fried chicken, dumplings, mashed potatoes, green beans, and friend biscuits. We then ended our evening at Huber’s by playing basketball and four square, swinging, and feeding the fish.
