Durango

Our morning started in Durango Colorado with a trip over to Mesa Verde. We were delighted to welcome Mark the tour guide onto our bus. Mark was a previous teacher and principal in the area and had many tales of about Native Americans and how they settled the area years ago. We also got some up close views of the ruins in which spirits still dwell today. After our tour, we journeyed over to a beautiful picnic area where we enjoyed lunch overlooking the canyons around us. We continued our day by going back to downtown Durango to enjoy some shopping and exploring. Following our busy day, we spent the night at the Bar D Chuckwagon. The Bar D featured a variety of activities such as pistol shooting, wagon rides, train rides, panning for gold, and more. On top of all of this, The Bar D provided us with some delicious food and amazing entertainment. As always they performed one of the crowd favorites “Espinozaʼs Misfit Farm.” We also heard from the founder of the Chuckwagon, Si Scarborough. He recited a poem to us, and the moral of the story he left us with was if you want to go to a ball and get a fancy prince donʼt forget to “slop your dripper.”
