Red Rocks and Back Roads: From Sedona to Tucson

Sedona, AZ

Today with The Grand Western Tour, we got to see one of the most beautiful corners of Arizona, and it was every bit as stunning as we hoped.

We spent the morning in Sedona on a Pink Jeep tour, and what a way to see the landscape. They took us out of town and we went bumping along rocky back roads, kicking up dust the whole way. Our tour guide kept us entertained with stories about the building of the road and the history of the area, including a pretty great ghost story about a bear hunter. As we drove, we got to see the incredible striations in the red cliffs and learned about the geological timeline written right into the rock.

Group of tour travelers posing together at a scenic overlook of the Grand Canyon, with layered red rock canyon walls and a blue sky with clouds in the background.

After stopping for some pictures, the jeeps dropped us off in town, where we had a couple hours of free time to grab lunch and shop around. There was gorgeous Native jewelry, plenty of souvenirs, and some seriously yummy food to be found.

In the afternoon, we hopped back on the bus and made our way to Tucson. The ride was relaxed, with beautiful views of distant mountains rolling past our windows, and we pulled in around 5:30. Dinner at the resort meant tacos and hamburgers, and afterward we had free time to catch up on laundry, hit the gym, and hang out by the pool with music playing and more pool games going.

Tomorrow is shaping up to be a proper rest day at the resort, and after the packed schedule of the past few days, we are all looking forward to it. Until then!
