It was an early, foggy start today as we loaded the bus at 6:15 am. After a stop for breakfast at McDonald's we were on the road to Kansas. The ride today was long, with rain turning into sunshine, as we traveled through Missouri into Kansas. Many took advantage of this time to catch up on some sleep. Others listened to music, or enjoyed watching the movie, Elf. Along the way we made two stops, which included a rest area, and later a break for lunch in Lawrence, KS. We got a glimpse of the University of Kansas as we drove through town. Go Jayhawks!
After arriving at the Comfort Suites in Salina (the geographical center of the US) we gathered in the lobby for the annual group meeting. At this time, students were given tour expectations and guidelines. Tonight’s entertainment was a trip to the local mall where the travelers had a variety of dinner choices. There was also time for some quick shopping before heading to the movie theater. The group had the choice to see either "Aladdin" or "Godzilla." It was determined that the ones that saw Aladdin saw the better movie. Addie even said “Aladdin changed her life!”
It was a long travel day, but everyone is excited to see Colorado and the Rocky Mountains tomorrow!
PS- Our "bus loading crew" (with assigned days) rotates throughout the trip.
