The Oregon Trail!

Seattle, WA to Gold Beach, OR

Our July 4th began with an early start for a long drive to Gold Beach, Oregon. Many of us enjoyed rest and naps during the early period of our journey. We stopped a couple times for food and stretch breaks as we made our way down the West Coast. As our drive neared its end we were able to see magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean. Our eight hour long bus ride finally concluded as we pulled into the Jots Resort Hotel.

We then rushed into to our rooms to find a beautiful view of the water. From there we enjoyed a nice pizza dinner and ice cream. We then anxiously waited for fireworks, which would be happening later in the evening. In the meantime, we enjoyed activities such as swimming, a hot tub, sauna, and more. With a lot of fog coming in we weren’t sure if fireworks would still be able to be seen. Luckily, we met some nice folks at the resort who let us have a front row seat for a fantastic firework display. The people were great and we even met some nice kids, who soon became the life of the party. Although the drive was long, this celebration of our country made it all worth it!

FUN FACT OF THE DAY: Oregon residents own one-fourth of the country’s total llama population.

**Since it was a long travel day straight into student free time there weren’t many photos taken! Stay tuned for a ton tomorrow from the jet boat trip!
