Goodbye Ranch, Hello Rodeo: In Jackson!

Jackson, WY

Today with The Grand Western Tour came with a bittersweet start. After such a special stretch at the ranch, it was hard to say goodbye, but the promise of brand new places had us ready to hit the road.

First up was a stop at Broulim’s to load up on snacks, because no good travel day starts without them. From there, we visited a local fish hatchery, where we learned about an endangered species of trout that the hatchery raises and distributes to nearby reservoirs. We even got to chat with one of the folks who works there. It was a neat look at the quiet, behind-the-scenes work that goes into protecting these waters and the species that call them home.

By evening, we had arrived in Jackson and checked into the Antler Motel. With a little free time on our hands, we set out to explore town, and let’s just say the shopping did not disappoint. A few cute shirts and hats definitely found their way into our bags.

Then came the moment we had all been waiting for: the rodeo. With the mountains standing tall in the background, we watched the sun set over bull riding, bronco riding, and barrel racing, with classic rodeo concessions serving as our dinner. As if on cue, the heat finally broke and the evening cooled down to something just about perfect.

From ranch life to the rodeo arena, today had a little bit of everything. Yee-haw!
